In 1980, he co-founded The Chocolate Tree with his wife, Pat Green. The company sells assorted chocolates, truffles, caramels and brittles among other sweets. He worked with his youngest son in the production kitchen of the Chocolate Tree.

Green also a life-long member of the 3rd degree and 4th degree Knights of Columbus. He served as State Warden in 1983. Green was also a member of the Drill Instructors Association and the Disabled Veterans Association. Upon retiring from the Marine Corps, he served as a receiver for the Commissary on Parris Island.

After retiring from civil service, Green went on to be "the host with the most" at Ollie's Restaurant.

Green is survived by his wife, three sons, one daughter and seven grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Peter’s Church, The Technical College of the Lowcountry Foundation or Friends of Caroline Hospice.

Friends of the Green family left their condolences in a guestbook:

“Pat and family - I am so sorry to hear about Norman - he had a way to always make you smile. You are in my thoughts and prayers,” says Dave Keener.

“You are all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. There's another angel looking down on you all and guiding you as you carry on. God Bless!” says Kathy Koszuta.

“Our heartfelt condolences to Pat and family,” says Bob, a fellow Marine, and Pat Sheehan.

The services for Green will be held at Anderson Funeral Home.
