The American Association of Candy Technologists (AACT) has canceled its 2020 National Technical Seminar as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In an Instagram post, the organization said it is working on a virtual option since it could not safely hold the in-person event, originally slated for Oct. 5-7 in Oak Brook, Illinois.

“AACT remains committed to sharing ideas, providing national and regional education opportunities, and encouraging career development through mentorship and networking,” the post reads. “Virtual offerings are in the works for this fall and we look forward to bringing you more news of those opportunities as plans unfold.”

The organization will accept nominations for the Stroud Jordan Award through Aug. 10. Nomination forms are available on AACT’s website.

The 2021 National Technical Seminar is scheduled for Sept. 20-22 at the Hyatt Lodge in Oak Brook.
