Atkinson Candy’s Texas facility achieves SQF certification
Company began working on facility overhaul to better segregate allergens.
Atkinson Candy Co. has achieved certification under the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Program at its facility in Lufkin, Texas.
SQF certification ensures the most rigorous food safety and quality standards for manufacturing facilities.
“Achieving this certification is a testament to our commitment to quality, first and foremost,” says President Eric Atkinson. “SQF certification has been a long-term goal for our Lufkin facility, proving Atkinson Candy Co. is truly a 21st century food production facility.”
Atkinson said the company began a major overhaul of its factory in 2015 to better segregate allergens used for the company’s mainstay brands, Chick-O-Stick and Peanut Butter Bar.
Atkinson Candy also has an SQF-certified allergen-free facility in Guatemala for peppermint and hard candy production. Now with both facilities having SQF certification, the company said it is poised for growth by delivering high-quality confections to customers and consumers worldwide.
