Mascot Inc. has hired Tore Swenson (based in Chaska, MN) as its VP of sales. Swenson, who has over 20 years of experience in the specialty food industry, will help lead the company in private label and branded opportunities within grocery, specialty, C-store, and vending markets. She recently came from Hammond’s Candies as its senior VP of sales. During her time at Hammond’s, she assisted in the growth and sale of the company to a private equity fund.
“I’m very excited about working for Mascot—they were a business partner of Hammond’s as a manufacturer of our nut candies and peanut brittle,” says Swenson. “I was amazed to learn of all their capabilities, including chocolate enrobing, chocolate bars, and chocolate molds. They also create interesting panned nuts, including my favorite, Habanero Pineapple Cashews.”
The president and CEO of Mascot, Kenny Tarver, has decided to add Swenson to their team to help build the company and its brand. “We have been looking for the right person to fill this role, and when the opportunity to hire Swenson arose, it was an easy decision. She is very familiar with the industry and has previous experience with our products.”
Founded in 1955, Mascot is family-owned and operated pecan company. Based in Glenville, GA, Mascot is known for its shelled pecans, nut candies, and chocolates. Mascot products can be found at convenience stores, vending locations, grocery stores, and specialty retailers.
