The Ferrero Group has announced plans to build its first plant in Mexico.

The $200 million facility is slated for Guanajuato and would be used to manufacture Kinder Surprise, Kinder Chocolate, Kinder Delice and the hazelnut cream Nutella, according to a press release from the Mexican government.

It’s expected to increase Ferrero’s total production by 35,000 tons and employ 500 people.

The Italian company made the announcement during a celebration of its 20 years in the Mexico, and held a “blessing of the rooftops” ceremony. The blessing is a northern Italy traditon that drew on Ferrero’s heritagae.  

The Ferrero Group also Tic Tac and Ferrero Rocher products, among others. The company employees about 22,000 people worldwide and its products are distributed in more than 100 countries.
