In the fight against GMOs, Ingredion Inc. is making sure it stays on the front lines.

A number of Ingredion’s key texturizer and nutrition solutions have now achieved Non-GMO Project Verified status, the ingredient solutions company announced.

“We are pleased to receive Non-GMO Project Verification, which adds another layer of credibility to our decade’s-long experience meeting and exceeding non-GMO standards for ingredients,” says Nate Yates, business director for the Enliten sweetener and North America sweetness innovation at Ingredion.

Non-GMO Project standards require ingredients with a risk for genetically modified organisms to be continuously tested, as well as facility inspections, and an annual audit. The Non-GMO Project offers the only independent verification process for products in North America.

By producing its verified products in compliance with these standards, Ingredion appeals to its consumers in multiple ways.

“Our NGP Verified ingredient solutions meet consumer demand for a clean label, provide process tolerance and stability advantages and deliver the taste, texture and appearance consumers expect from their products, and, when coupled with our formulations, sensory and CULINOLOGY expertise, help expedite speed to market and likelihood of success,” Yates explains.

The NGP Verification follows Ingredion’s TrueTrace Program, which requires cooperation between Ingredion and its growers and promotes best practices for segregation and documentation of non-GMO corn. A number of other Ingredion products are still in the process of being verified by NGP.
