PACK EXPO International

The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies (PMMI) is preparing for a record-breaking four days at the PACK EXPO International and the debut of the Pharma EXPO Nov. 2-5.

The two shows will feature 2,400 processing and packaging solutions providers, 20 percent more than the 2012 event had, and cover more than 1.2 million sq. ft. at McCormick Place in Chicago.

Exhibitor numbers, as well as exhibit space, have exceeded projections, says Jim Pittas, PMMI v.p. of trade shows.

“Solutions providers are demonstrating, yet again, the value they place on PACK EXPO as the premier medium for reaching their customers,” he says.

Attendee numbers are also exceeding expectations, at 50,000 visitors from all over the world. More than 70 leading industry associations will also be present.

PACK EXPO International exhibits focus on technologies for enhancing sustainability, efficiency, automation, food safety initiatives and shelf impact. Pharma EXPO, which PMMI co-produces with the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE), features exhibits showing off processing and packaging technologies in the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, biotech and medical device sectors.

By sharing a location, ideas can spread between the different industries.

“PACK EXPO and Pharma EXPO attendees will benefit from seeing the technologies and applications other industries use to tackle challenges,” Pittas says.

Cross-industry ideas and discussion will have plenty of time to flourish at the more than 100 educational sessions that highlight industry trends and operations.

“ISPE aims to provide learning opportunities that help move the pharmaceutical industry forward,” says John Bournas, president and ceo of ISPE. “By positioning world-class technologies and learning opportunities across various life science industries alongside similar innovations and insights from other markets, we’re creating a truly unique chance for attendees to examine a broader spectrum of possibilities to enhance their manufacturing supply chains.”

Registration for the shows is $60, but access to Pharma EXPO conference sessions costs extra. Keynotes and PACK EXPO International sessions are no additional charge to attendees.

PMMI is a trade association representing more than 650 packaging and processing supply chain companies. It also hosts trade shows, networking events and educational programs to link buyers and sellers.

ISPE is the world’s largest nonprofit association that leads scientific, technical and regulatory advancement throughout the pharmaceutical lifecycle. Its 20,000 members develop and manufacture pharmaceutical and biologic medical devices and medicine.
