Candy Industry’s Ghana series receives Honorable Mention in 2020 Eddie Awards

Three-part series detailed Editor Crystal Lindell’s trip to Barry Callebaut’s cocoa fields in Ghana.

October 7, 2020

Candy Industry recently received an Eddie honorable mention for a series of articles by a B2B Food and Beverage magazine. The three-part series detailed Editor’s Crystal Lindell’s trip to Barry Callebaut’s cocoa field in Ghana.

For more than 25 years, Folio Magazine’s Eddie & Ozzie Awards have recognized excellence in engaging content and gorgeous design across all sectors of the publishing industry.

About 60 percent of the world's chocolate comes from Ghana and Ivory Coast in Africa, but issues with child labor, famer poverty and climate change have plagued the supply chain.

Lindell toured Barry Callebaut's cocoa fields and chocolate processing facilities in Ghana first-hand to report on how the industry is working to address these challenges.

The three-part series offers a rare, personal and candid look at why it can be so difficult to make substantive changes in the region, but also why it's important to do so. If the world wants to continue enjoying chocolate, then it will have no choice but to respond.
