Georgia Nut Co., a family-owned confections, nuts and snacks manufacturer based in Skokie, Ill., has announced changes in its sales management.

John Drehobl will serve as director of sales and marketing. He’ll supervise sales, marketing, research and development, supply chain and demand planning. Drehobl joined Georgia Nut in 2008 and has held several positions within the sales team.

Kurt Thorsen has been named v.p. of business development. His focus will involve strategic growth platforms, including an initiative to enter the dietary supplement and “better for you” markets. Georgia Nut has made an investment to become organic and CFR111 compliant to support this initiative.

“John and Kurt are integral members of our sales division,” says President Rick Drehobl. “Georgia Nut is very excited to see what the future holds with John at the helm and Kurt driving new business.”

Launched in 1945, Georgia Nut manufactures a full line of chocolate-panned, sugar-panned, hot-panned, enrobed, brittle and nut products. It’s also one of a handful of domestic firms that extrude malt balls centers.
