Sanders Candy and Morley Candy Makers will celebrate the grand reopening of their newly-remodeled chocolate and ice cream shoppe in Clinton Township, Mich. on Saturday.

The renovations, which began in June, increased the previous store’s footprint by 30 percent and expanded indoor seating from 10 people to 50. An additional 75 outdoor seats will be available during warmer months.

The shoppe will also feature two chocolate waterfalls and a fully-visible bakery, where shoppers can see employees prepare baked goods and dip chocolates. The store also has marble countertops paying homage to the classic fountain counters of Sanders shoppes in the early 1900s.

“We’ve put a lot of thought into loading the store with features to create memories that will last a lifetime,” said Brian Jefferson, Sanders Candy chairman and ceo. “We want visitors to feel compelled to stay for a while when they come to this store.”

The grand re-opening will kick off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a special appearance by the Detroit Lions Mascot, Roary the Lion. Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the store will hold a day-long celebration featuring giveaways, in-store special offers, free samples, free hot dogs and a variety of family friendly activities.

“We are so grateful to have served the Greater Detroit Community for more than 140 years,” said Ron Rapson, Sanders Candy president. “This store is an example of us combining our rich history with modern ideas to help create the next chapter of an exciting future for the Sanders brand.”
