Beyond Good, purveyor of direct trade chocolate and vanilla, has introduced The Microbatch Collection, made with ethically sourced, single-origin dark chocolate.
The Microbatch Collection is crafted using organic, heirloom cocoa beans from Madagascar and Uganda and slow-processed to reveal complexity in flavor, low acidity, and a smooth, velvety melt, the brand says. Created by a team of Malagasy chocolate makers, this new line of chocolate is now available in four distinct flavors made with simple, premium ingredients:
- 72% Cocoa Dark Chocolate with Vanilla Bean
- 72% Cocoa Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt & Nibs
- 72% Cocoa Dark Chocolate with Candied Ginger
- 70% Cocoa Dark Chocolate and Rum Raisins
“Each small, numbered batch represents hours of careful monitoring, tasting, and adjusting,” shares Sariaka Andrianarivo, head chocolate maker of Beyond Good. “It is craft chocolate making at the source rather than mass production, and I can’t wait for [consumers] to experience it.”
Beyond Good is the only U.S. chocolate company producing the finished product at origin in Madagascar. The Beyond Good direct trade model aims to completely prevent human exploitation, deforestation, and pesticide use, while ensuring farmers are paid three to five times fair trade premiums. Beyond Good cocoa forests protect more than 85 species of wildlife, including vulnerable and endangered lemurs.
Consumers can find the Microbatch Collection for $7.99 per bar at Whole Foods nationwide in the specialty section, plus Amazon and beyondgood.com.
