CandyStore.com’s 2021 map of the most popular Halloween candy in each state features a cyberpunk future theme, inspired by the popularity of Tesla and Bitcoin this year. “Our 2021 map design is something we think HAL 9000 would appreciate,” said CandyStore.com’s Ben George.

September 27, 2021

What’s the most popular Halloween candy in your state? And what are the Top 10 most popular Halloween candies in the country? New insights from CandyStore.com uses 14 years of sales data to reveal the answer to both.

The bulk candy retailer analyzed sales data from 2007-2021, specifically focusing on the months leading up to Halloween.

“We have seen a lot of surprising favorites and least favorites over the years. That’s why working with unbiased data is so much fun,” the company’s Ben George said in a blog post. “We sell nationwide (and to Canada) so we broke down our sales by state. We also have relationships with major candy manufacturers and distributors – all of whom contributed and helped us reach our conclusions.”

In the state-by-state breakdown, Reese's Cups, Sour Patch Kids, and Starburst tied for being the most popular in the most states, with six states each. They were followed by M&M's, with five states, and Tootsie Pops with four.

Both the lists are below. For more detailed data, including the second and third most popular Halloween candy in each state, visit CandyStore.com.
