Title: Bread Smell

We bought a loaf of Nature's Own Reduced Calorie Bread. Tried it twice. My wife also had a slice or lunch. The next day she opened the bag and said it had a strange smell. It smelled of vinegar. We called the company and they immediately asked if anyone got sick. The bread was still nto expired and had several days left.

We thought about it and I remembered having a headache each day and my wife has a stomach problem. We never attributed it to the bread.

They said someone would call us. This was early Firday. We lost track of the day and no one called. Monday we called again and within a short time we had several calls from 2 different people. One from the company and one from the bakery.

We were told it was a normal smell. And that our bread was probably not from the same batch. They make the bread in big batches. So what did they do...make this single loaf?

A rep came out and smelled the bread and was stunned it smelled so strong of vinegar or whatever it was. He took several slices and said it would be analysed at a special lab. A psecial lab? I thought it was a normal smell from what we were told on the phone?

They offered us a replacement loaf which we turned down until (maybe) they get back the test results.

Has anyone heard of or know anyone who had a similar problem? Just passing the word in case there was something wrong with the bread.

Thanks.
