Crumbl Co-founder and CEO Jason McGowan shared an announcement on his X.com feed that he, Sawyer Hemsley (co-founder and chief brand officer), and Bryce Redd (chief technology officer) are planning to transition out of the leadership roles. According to the statement, the trio plans to stay in the roles until replacements can be found. After the new leaders are in place, McGowan says, he will become chairman of the Crumbl board, and the other two will be members.

Hemsley is the subject of this month’s One More Bite profile; read his story here.

Read McGowan's statement in full below:

Crumbl Founders Transition
May 2026

Over the past several years, Crumbl has grown from a single store into something none of us could have imagined when we started. That growth has only happened because of the people who have built it alongside us, our franchise partners, our headquarters team, and the customers who keep showing up week after week.

As part of a planned transition, and with the support of our investors, Sawyer, Bryce, and I will be transitioning away from our day-to-day operating roles at Crumbl.

Once we find our replacements through a rigorous hiring process, I will step down as Chief Executive Officer, Sawyer as Chief Brand Officer, and Bryce as Chief Technology Officer.

This is not a goodbye to Crumbl. We will all remain closely involved as members of the Board of Directors and founders. I will continue as Chairman of the Board. We are still deeply invested in this company, in our franchise partners, and in where Crumbl goes from here.

I believe now is the right time to bring in new leadership through an open search process. That is why I am sharing this now.

Getting the right people in place matters a lot, and I believe an open process will allow us to find the very best leadership to support Crumbl's future success and stay involved to support a smooth transition.

This next chapter gives the company an opportunity to focus on scale, sharpen the experience for customers and franchise partners, and continue pushing the product innovation that has always set Crumbl apart.

We are incredibly proud of what we have built. What started as an idea between cousins has turned into something much bigger than we ever expected. The foundation is strong, and the future is exciting.

To our franchise partners, team members, and customers, thank you! Thank you for believing in this brand and helping build it with us. We are excited to watch Crumbl continue to grow in this next chapter.
