The 2010 International Baking Industry Exposition has made several moves to make the show a bigger draw for attendees and exhibitors around the world.

With its strategic alliance with the Retail Bakers of America, IBIE will expand its education program to offer seminars that include exhibitions from retail bakers. RBA will work with the American Institute of Baking and others to create an outstanding program.

The two organizations recently agreed to merge RBA’s American Retail Bakery Exposition into IBIE 2010 and 2013, the latter of which will take place from Oct. 13-16, 2013, in Las Vegas. IBIE will manage the RBA stand-alone shows in 2011 and 2012.

IBIE 2010 has been accepted into the U.S. Department of Commerce International Buyer Program, which should boost international attendance and provide an international buyers lounge, as well as, government assistance to international exhibitors, including U.S. Customs help, notes Chuck Wellard, secretary and treasurer of the International Baking Industry Exposition LLC.

“We did not participate in that program in 2007, and it was missed,” Wellard says.

The show’s organizers also created an enhanced corporate meeting program where companies can hold annual meetings in conjunction with IBIE. Specifically, Wellard says, the program offers discounted or free meeting space, and creates incentives for companies to send more employees to the show. IBIE, he adds, can create a custom education program for companies.

Another exciting addition at IBIE 2010 is the U.S. finalist competition of the renowned Coupe du Monde international baking competition, which will be held on the show’s floor so that all attendees can join in on the excitement.

Currently, exhibition space for the show, which runs from Sept. 26-29, 2010, in Las Vegas, is open exclusively to members of the American Bakers Association and BEMA. In June, the show’s floor will open to past IBIE exhibitors and to the rest of the industry in August.

“As the IBIE 2010 advertising tag line says, IBIE is truly ‘where the baking industry unites,’” Wellard says.
