Ian Trood becomes vice president of international sales development for Bakery Supplies North America and Gary Schmidt is the new vice president of industrial sales for Caravan Ingredients. Bill Gambel will lead the Milling Sales division.


Caravan Ingredients and Bakery Supplies North America (BSNA), Lenexa, Kan., promoted two executives.
Ian Trood, previously vice president of industrial sales and milling, moves up to vice president, international sales development for BSNA, the North American division of CSM. Gary Schmidt, previously vice president of operations, will take over the role of vice president, industrial sales for Caravan Ingredients, reporting to CEO, Bill McGowan.

Trood brings 32 years of sales experience to his new role and will be a valuable asset as CSM, Caravan Ingredients' parent company, works to grow their international business. In this position, Trood will be responsible for introducing and expanding CSM’s U.S. product lines and developing optimal portfolios with CSM imported and locally sourced products to newly developed international markets such as Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

Schmidt has been with Caravan Ingredients since 2008. Prior to joining the company, he spent
15 years in various senior level positions in food-related industries. He has a long track record of managing large groups and implementing change to meet and exceed company goals across functions. Schmidt’s cross-functional leadership skills will help Caravan Ingredients grow the industrial sales division. The Milling Sales division will be led by Bill Gambel, vice president of sales, food ingredients and milling.
