AMF Bakery Systems Receives Plant Equipment Contract in Turkey

AMF Bakery Systems received the complete plant equipment contract by Ekmek Unlu Gida, located in Gebze, Turkey.

AMF Bakery Systems, a Richmond, Va., supplier of state-of- the-art bakery systems for bread and roll production, received the complete plant equipment contract by Ekmek Unlu Gida, located in Gebze, Turkey. Ekmek was established in 2007 as a subsidiary of Ata Holding Group.

When Ekmek decided to expand its existing hamburger/sandwich bun business and enter the tinned bread market, the company researched the project and wanted integrated, state-of-the-art equipment to make its hamburger and sandwich buns, soup and Panini buns and pizza dough for fast food restaurants in the Ata Holding Group.

“After investigating our alternatives, we felt the greatest degree of trust in AMF, given their history” says Erhan Cansu, managing director of Ekmek Unlu Gida & Ekur Construction. “We wanted one integrated solution and found that only AMF was able to provide the level of professional integration we had been looking for.”

Adds AMF president Ken Newsome, “We are especially excited to have our first conveyorized proofer combined with our industry leading tunnel oven in this strategically located bakery.”

AMF’s European office will provide critical local project support and a small component from China. The new Ekmek facility will be built alongside an existing bakery in Gebze, supplying a variety of tinned breads for retail outlets throughout Turkey, as well as burger buns, pizza dough and more, with the line expected to begin production in April 2012.
