SF&WB Becomes Official Media Sponsor of IBIE
Stagnito Communications, Deerfield, Ill., will join forces with the International Baking Industry Exposition (IBIE) as an Official Media Sponsor.
Three major publishers serving the grain-based food industry entered into agreements with IBIE as part of a cooperative effort to market the 2007 Orlando event. Official Media Sponsorship agreements will consist of in-book and online promotional opportunities, in addition to consulting and support for targeted marketing activities and educational programming.
Snack Food and Wholesale Bakery is published by Stagnito Communications and will work closely with IBIE to convey news and show developments through print and electronic media. IBIE selected Stagnito Communications based on its commitment to and reputation for delivering timely, relevant news to leaders in volume baking and snack food manufacturing. Additionally, its diverse portfolio of media, including Refrigerated & Frozen Foods and Industria Alimenticia, gives IBIE access to new markets in related food industries, both domestically and internationally.
The IBIE Show Committee is making a concerted effort to expand the scope of the event to include participation from all segments of the grain-based food industry and to ensure that it attracts a broader audience than has attended past shows.

SIAB 2007 — Innovation at its Finest
By Maria Pilar Clark
Innovation will be the name of the game at the upcoming SIAB - International Techno-Bake Exhibition — scheduled for May 5-9, 2007, in Verona, Italy — which is dedicated to emerging technologies for raw materials and semi-finished products for bread, pasta, pizza, confectionery and ice cream products.
SIAB is organized by VeronaFiere, a European leader in the exhibition sector, especially in the areas of agricultural and agro-foods fields, with events dedicated to production factors and systems (Fieragricola), agro-food technologies (SIAB, Eurocarne, Acquacoltura International and Enolitech), and produce (Vinitaly, Sol, Agrifood).
Highlights will include a sense of integrated internationalization, with expanded areas dedicated to machinery for confectioners and ice cream producers, and a particular focus on packaging for the bread industry and for raw materials — including complementary sectors such as logistics and traceability.
SIAB will have international appeal with dynamic events showcasing sponsors and exhibitors. These innovative highlights are further strengthened by SIAB’s new image, including its revamped logo and new “International Techno-Bake Exhibition” partnership.
Continuity for the exhibition will be anchored by adopting a three-year staging process, which illustrates a decisive approach to consolidating trends across the board in the bread, pastry, confectionery, fresh pasta and pizza markets. The scope of SIAB also has been emphasized, in terms of featuring machinery and ovens for bread, confectionery and pizza from the Triveneto region of Italy, which boasts some of the leading equipment manufacturers for those industries.
SIAB has traditionally been dedicated to medium and large companies, and small companies and family operators, but this year, it plans to offer other professional visitors a complete range of products that work for various industries.

Caravan Names Medlicott New Marketing Manager
Caravan Products, Totowa, N.J., has named Kerrie Medlicott its new marketing manager. She takes over the marketing responsibilities previously handled by Ron Savelli, who was vice president of sales and marketing at the company before becoming president in February. At that time, David Fliss was named national sales manager, taking over that portion of Savelli’s former duties.
Medlicott comes to Caravan with 10 years of experience in the baking industry in England, where she served as head of marketing and category management at BakeMark UK — previously Arkady Craigmillar — the leading supplier of bakery ingredients and products within the UK. BakeMark UK covers all areas of the baking industry, as does Caravan, from distributors to retail and wholesale bakers to in-store and foodservice operators.
