On a daily basis, our employees are potentially exposed to a real and serious life threatening risk. When we ask them to perform cleaning tasks, preventative maintenance, repairs and inspection, etc. on machinery and conveyance systems, we put them at risk. The most serious injuries take place when people are caught in machinery that is still under power.
Whenever a task requires us to open a guard and reach into the point of operation, we must make sure our employees know how to prevent the accidental start-up of the machinery. We must make sure they know the practices and procedures required to isolate that machine from ALL energy sources and ALL forms of stored energy (capacitors, pneumatic, hydraulic energy and gravity).
Short cuts and faulty practices often lead to life altering injury. Define how to apply this program and effective procedures so you can assure your employees work safely
This webinar will explain OSHA's expectations and clearly outline how this performance based standard can be implemented. Key elements include:
- Making sure you have each and every lockout procedure completed correctly
- What to do about stored energy
- How to handle situations where more than one person must lockout a machine and how you handle group lockout situations
- How do you know when it's time to retrain?
- Understanding why a control switch or safety switch cannot be relied upon to safely work on equipment
Attend this webinar and take a step in the right direction to make your workplace and your employees safe.
