Registration is now open for ASB’s 2011 BakingTech, “Nourishing for Generations,” to be held Mar. 6–9 at Chicago’s Marriott Downtown. The 2011 Program Planning Committee created an exciting program for this year’s conference.

ASB’s 2011 BakingTech will highlight keynote addresses from Ed Viesturs, a high-altitude adventurer, Brian Barnhart, member of the Indy Racing League and Lowell Catlett, economist and futurist. Breakout sessions will focus on topics such as operations/equipment, artisan/ethnic baking, regulations/safety and ingredients/formulations.

The opening session will include a keynote address by Washington resident and mountaineer Ed Viesturs, who has successfully reached the summits of all of the world’s 14 8,000-meter mountain peaks, an 18-year endeavor. A technical session on sustainability will include Autumn Bayles of Tasty Baking Co.; Walt Tunnessen, director of Energy Star for Industry; David Van Laar, Oak State Products; and Lois Vitt Sale of Wight & Co.
