As food and beverage companies address recent updates to the BRC Food Safety Standards, Eagle Product Inspection offers a new Guide to Creating a Food Safety Culture.

One significant clause in the new Issue 8 of the BRC Food Safety Standard makes food safety culture a compulsory requirement. Although food safety has long been at the forefront of industry practices and protocols, the collaborators who worked on Issue 8 agreed that something was “missing”, namely, a vertical food safety culture shaped and spearheaded by senior management with open and ongoing communications across an organization. “Creating a food safety culture goes beyond the important and necessary practices that have been in place in many companies, and includes a broad mindset in which food safety is part of the culture: every shift, every employee and every product check,” says Christy Draus, marketing manager for Eagle Product Inspection.

Eagle developed the new guide to assist food and beverage companies in determining how to assess their current food safety culture, plan and execute changes to their culture and measure and update their overall approach. To help companies build and ensure a strong culture of safety, Eagle offers a range of advanced inspection technologies, along with maintenance, training and support. “These systems are designed to prevent physical contaminants, ensure product integrity and provide greater traceability at a time when more companies are seeking to capture and save information on products made in their facilities,” says Draus.
