A recent survey by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) reveals that nearly 13% of Americans eat pizza on any given day. Researchers collected data from 2007-2008 and 2009-2010 national surveys to find out the dietary intake of 17,571 participants, age 2 and above. They analyzed pizza-consumption patterns among adults and children by age, race, gender and ethnicity. The report also took into account the contribution of pizza consumption.
The results showed that one in eight participants ate pizza on any given day, making it the favorite American food. Nearly 22% of pizzas are consumed by children and young adults (6 to 19). People age 60 and older ate only 6%. Rates among male and female participants were 15% and 11%, respectively.
