Bühler, in collaboration with Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc, has opened a grains application center in Nigeria dedicated to processing local and ancient grains.
The opening of this new facility advances MISTA’s capabilities in driving food innovation and highlights Givaudan's and Bühler’s commitment to supporting the transformation of the food system.
Officially opened on November 20, the facility provides heating for Bühler offices in Uzwil by using biomass generated at its application and training centers.
The Flavor Creation Center, which has been processing cocoa and nuts since 2022 and coffee since 2013, has been upgraded and refurbished, and is now part of Bühler’s innovation hub in Uzwil, Switzerland.

The first steps towards the smart factory started in 2019 when Kägi and Bühler teams conducted a Performance Assessment Workshop to discover where improvements could be made in the production process of the chocolate wafer manufacturer.
Pronatec’s decision to move cocoa bean processing from external contract processors abroad to Switzerland paved the way for the project, which was implemented with equipment from the Bühler Group.
