Equipment Snapshot: Leading product inspection specialist, Mettler-Toledo Hi-Speed, has launched the new dynamic C-Series of checkweighers. The scalable model range is designed to optimize flexibility on production and packaging lines, helping to ensure manufacturers around the world are equipped for the market demands of the future.

“With increasing production speeds, more frequent product changeovers a wider range of packaging sizes, the need for product handling flexibility is greater than ever before,” says Markus Schade, head of marketing at Mettler-Toledo Checkweighing. “However, this cannot come at the expense of weighing accuracy. With the global launch of our C-Series, manufacturers can benefit from both high-precision checkweighing and optimized adaptability. As a result, they can easily introduce new products to their lines and ensure consistent compliance with international Weights and Measures standards.”

METTLER TOLEDO's new C-Series comprises three main product lines. The turnkey C31 StandardLine has been designed especially for packages weighing up to six kilograms, with a throughput rate of 200 units per minute. It can be combined with metal detection technology to provide checkweighing and foreign body detection in one compact system. It also offers a number of optional features, including a Waterprotected construction, and stable guide rails for consistent product flow, with minimal downtime.

The C33 PlusLine is capable of weighing packages between seven grams and 7.5 kilograms, at throughput rates of up to 300 units per minute. The C33 PlusLine offers hundreds of features, such as specially-protected conveyors for the weighing of granular or powdery products. The C33 can also be combined with three different metal detection systems, to match your checkweigher to your product safety needs.

Precise and flexible, the C35 AdvancedLine covers a weighing range from three grams to 10 kilograms, and measures up to 600 packages per minute. The system can be customized with a wide range of rejection, transport and conveyor belt options, making it easily adaptable according to manufacturers’ individual needs. Integrated with a Safeline metal detector, the C35 provides an efficient and space-saving combination system.

C-Series systems are installed globally in production lines for food, pharmaceutical, consumer goods and industrial materials. Mettler Toledo's communication offering is the most complete in the industry.  Mettler-Toledo's communication offering is the most complete in the industry. Solutions available include Ethernet/IP PROFINET, PROFIBUS DP OPC DA/UA, along with TCP/IP, and various serial communications solutions. Fieldbus and OPC solutions have Pack ML (ISA TR88.00.02) as a fundamental part of their base-architecture – making control integration far simpler and faster. C-Series checkweighers provide real-time monitoring of critical control points (CCPs) to support your end-to-end compliance with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) and Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls (HARPC) principles.

Mettler-Toledo works with 3-A, ANSI, and EHEDG – and with C-Series, cleanability, stability, and safety are built in. A quick view of the machine structure shows a frame that is rugged for reliability and high-performance weighing, yet open, with minimized flat surfaces, taking less time to clean and sanitize. Whether you are packaging dry products or unwrapped food, C-Series has the right level of machine construction for application.

C-Series offers a broad variety of HMI locations and machine configurations that allow customers to arrange the checkweigher to best fit their operational needs. If you need the HMI on the front, back, or freestanding to avoid reaching over machines or to provide access to a part of the machine, this can be done through the product's intelligent configurability.

The C-Series dynamic checkweighers from Mettler-Toledo Hi-Speed will be available starting September 2017. For more information, go to: www.mt.com/checkweighing.
