Held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, yummex ME is held parallel to two other top events — Gulfood Manufacturing and a new event, Private Label & Licensing Middle East (PRIME).
Preparations for this year’s yummex Middle East, the trade fair for sweets and snacks in the MENA region staged annually in Dubai, are progressing at top speed.
With its futuristic architecture and desert clime, Dubai seems a world away. But with its centralized location on the Persian Gulf and its penchant for growth and glamour, the city has earned recognition as a business hub for the Middle East and beyond.
Four months ago, I was a small-town newspaper journalist covering city council meetings and community events in rural West-Central Illinois, never dreaming my work would send me beyond the fringes of Northeast Missouri. But last Wednesday I found myself riding a tram out to the edge of the Palm Jumeirah. As the monorail glided past island residences and the city’s ultra-modern skyline, I couldn’t help being in awe.
Coordinated by Koelnmesse Group and the Dubai World Trade Center, Yummex Middle East, formerly known as Sweets & Snacks Middle East, will host the sold-out event Nov. 7-9.
Despite all the headlines involving suicide bombings, air strikes, beheadings, religious/ethnic strife, outright devastation, displacement and death in the Middle East, most of the countries in the region are quietly focused on peaceful progress and prosperity.
