Koelnmesse will welcome 1,200 exhibitors from more than 60 countries to Cologne for ISM 2022, set for Jan. 30-Feb. 2, after canceling the in-person trade fair last year.

This year, after canceling ISM, Koelnmesse opted for a digital edition of the New Product Showcase.

Organizers for ISM, the world’s largest fair for sweets and snacks, are outlining the precautions they’re taking for next year’s event.

Though the total of participating companies (501) is down from the 566 Koelnmesse recorded this time last year, organizers feel the trade fair, set for Jan. 31-Feb. 3, is on a good course in light of the global coronavirus pandemic.

Patrick Poirrier, CEO of the family-owned chocolate manufacturer CÉMOI, is the first French person to receive the ISM Award, presented Feb. 2 during the 50th edition of ISM.

ISM officials say preparations for the fair are continuing as planned amid growing concern over the spread of coronavirus in China and beyond.

Koelnmesse will celebrate the 50th edition of ISM, the world’s largest fair for sweets and snacks, with a special anniversary event and an evening honoring exhibitors that haven’t missed a show in its five-decade history.
