1-800-Flowers.com, Inc. plans to hire approximately 8,000 seasonal employees as the company’s gourmet food brands prepare for the 2017 holiday shopping season.
But a week later, 1-800-Flowers.com, Fannie May’s New York-based parent company, announced it would sell the brand -- along with the Harry London brand, an Ohio manufacturing facility, two warehouses and 79 retail stores -- to Ferrero International for $115 million.
Italian group Ferrero International has announced a multimillion-dollar deal to purchase Fannie May Confections Brands, Inc., from 1-800-Flowers.com, Inc., a leading floral and gourmet gift provider.
1-800 Flowers, a leading gourmet food and floral gift provider for all occasions, has partnered with Chocolate Works, a national retailer and manufacturer of custom Belgian chocolate gifts, to create and deliver freshly-made Fruit Bouquets by 1800Flowers.com.
The $142.5-million cash acquisition includes Harry & David's brands and websites as well as its headquarters, manufacturing and distribution facilities and orchards.
“As a customer-centric company, we are always looking for new ways to engage with our customers and enhance their shopping experience for all of their celebratory occasions,” says Jim McCann, 1-800-FLOWERS.COM CEO and founder.
