Wood Dale, Ill.-based Videojet Technologies Inc. has agreed to acquire Wolke Inks & Printers GmbH of Hersbruck, Germany, a supplier of thermal ink jet (TIJ) coding systems.

Products from Wolke enable companies to print variable, high-resolution marks, such as 2D bar codes, onto packaging. Videojet provides ink jet, laser, thermal transfer overprinting and other coding and marking technologies and control systems for snack, bakery and food industries.

The combined expertise of Videojet and Wolke will create a single source for coding and marking technologies for pharmaceutical companies, packaging machinery manufacturers and other industrial companies, according to Videojet.

“Videojet and Wolke share a commitment to coding solutions that deliver uptime and peace of mind to customers,” says Matt Trerotola, president of Videojet. “Wolke’s application expertise in thermal ink jet coding broadens the Videojet portfolio of marking and coding solutions. In addition, Videojet’s extensive global distribution and service network expands and complements Wolke’s current market reach.”
