Byrd Cookie Company recently announced plans to open a second retail store in downtown Charleston in late March 2018.
The new Byrd location at 71 S. Market St., between Church and Meeting St., will offer the company’s popular Cookie Bar, where customers can sample all 16 signature flavors, displayed in old-fashioned glass cookie jars, before making their selection.
“We love Charleston and appreciate the warm welcome we’ve received from residents and visitors,” said Byrd Cookie Company CEO Stephanie Lindley. “Our new location, which is located just steps away from Charleston’s City Market, will allow us to reach an even wider audience in the area.”
Byrd Cookie Company currently operates a successful retail store at 139 Market St. in downtown Charleston and has four stores in the greater Savannah, GA area.
Originally founded in Savannah in 1924, Byrd is of the largest and fastest-growing independent cookie, snack and gift companies in the United States. Byrd produces more than three tons of cookies daily in 16 delicious bite-sized flavors, including Key Lime Cooler, Georgia Peach, Scotch Oatmeal, Benne Wafers, Chocolate Chip and Salted Caramel.
The company’s iconic Key Lime Cooler was the first cookie to win Dessert of the Year top honors at the Fancy Food Show. Byrd’s best-selling savory items include Benne Bits, Cheddar Crisps and Cheddar Pecan Biscuits.
“We’re thrilled to open our newest store in Charleston,” said Lindley. “We hope to make the world a little sweeter, one cookie at a time.”
