Starburst GummiBursts
The latest addition to the Starburst line is
GummiBursts. These liquid-filled gummies, which will make their debut in
the spring, are made with real fruit juice. Pack types include 1.5-ounce
singles with a suggested retail price of 65 cents and 6-ounce bags with a
suggested retail price of $1.49. A bag of Starburst GummiBursts includes
the flavors cherry, lemon, orange and strawberry.
Movie Tie-In Items
Mars Snackfood will unveil new limited edition
Snickers and M&M’s items tied into the spring debut of the movie
“Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.” The
Snickers Adventure Bar combines chocolate, creamy nougat and peanuts, along
with a dash of exotic spice and a hint of sweet coconut flavor. The
M&M’s Mint Crisp Chocolate Candies boast a minty flavor with a
crispy center, surrounded by a colorful M&M’s candy shell.
Snickers Adventure Bar will be offered as a single and in 10.5-ounce minis
medium bag form, with suggested retail prices of 65 cents and $3.19
respectively. M&M’s Mint Crisp will be available as a 1.5-ounce
single item with a suggested retail price of 55 cents; a 2.7-ounce
king-size item for 99 cents; and in 11.8- and 17.6-ounce laydown bags, with
suggested retail prices of $2.96 and $4.39, respectively.
Climate Change Chocolate
Chocolate marketer Bloomsberry & Co. has teamed
with Terrapass Inc., a leading consumer retailer and marketer of greenhouse
gas reduction offsets, on the rollout of the new Climate Change Chocolate
bars. Available in 3.5-ounce all natural dark and milk chocolate, each bar
comes wrapped with 15 tips for reducing one’s carbon footprint and an
offset for 133 pounds of verified carbon, the amount emitted by an average
American in one day.
Halloween Lips Lollipops
Ford Gum’s extensive Halloween novelty
assortment includes Halloween Lips Lollipops. These plastic costume lips
come in vampire and princess styles. The “lips” include a
1-ounce lollipop pacifier and come packed two 20-count lollipop displays
per case. The suggested retail price per SKU is 59 cents.
Honey & Fruits
Honey & Fruits is a new line of candies made using
real honey and naturally derived fruit flavors and colors. Varieties
include Honey & Lemon, Honey & Orange, Honey & Berries, Honey
& Strawberry, and Honey & Pineapple. The candies are sold by flavor
in bulk cases of 10 pounds each or in an assortment of all five flavors.
Flashlights with Candy
Halloween-themed flashlights from Ford Gum also
dispense dextrose candy. Each includes two button-cell batteries and has a
suggested retail price of 99 cents. The flashlights/dispensers are packed
two 24-count displays per case.
Zours Re-Launch
Just Born’s Zours has joined the company’s
Mike and Ike brand family. The new Mike and Ike Zours mix includes a fifth
flavor to enhance the intensely sour fruit flavor. Thus the flavor mix now
includes: Sour Cherry, Sour Lemon, Sour Green Apple, Sour Watermelon and
Sour Blue Raspberry. Mike and Ike Zours will be benefit from a media
program that includes online advertising, radio support, sampling and a new
Web site, www.zours.com, which launches this spring. Suggested retail price
range will go from 25 cents to $1.59, depending on the package size.
Jones Carbonated Sours
Jones Carbonated Sours is a line of sour carbonated
candy inspired by the Jones Soda beverage brand. Each 50-piece tin has a
suggested retail price of about $1.99. Spiked Punch, Limes with Orange, and
Electric Lemonade flavors are offered. Merchandising options include
eight-count trays, 24- 36- and 48-count mixed counter displays, 72-count
power wings, 144-count floor displays and beverage cooler door displays.
Big Sky also will offer its “one-inch wonder” six-count
sleeves, which require only an inch of linear shelf space per SKU.
Gourmet Peanut Butter Confections
The California-based company now offers its gourmet
peanut butter confections in a distinctively shaped box dubbed the
“double grin box” that just recently passed patent approval.
The distinctively shaped package will be used throughout the firm’s
product line and on many of its marketing and promotional materials. The
latest branding effort is designed to further solidify Jer’s spot in
the gourmet confections market by creating a recognizable feature
that’s exclusive to the company.
Jer’s has been supplying large and small retail
outlets with its product for the past five years. Its current mix includes
11 gourmet peanut butter varieties including: Original IncrediBall, Pretzo
Change-O, Cara Mella and Toffee Break.
Filled Santas and Snowmen
Madelaine Chocolates is introducing bite-size peanut
butter truffle Santas and caramel truffle snowmen. Each little egg-shaped

New Additions from Endangered Species Chocolate
Endangered Species Chocolate gets the new year off to
a sweet start with the launch of five new organic chocolate bars. Varieties
include a 70 percent cocoa organic smooth dark chocolate and a 52 percent
cocoa organic smooth milk chocolate, as well as three 70 percent cocoa dark
chocolate bars specifically positioned to deliver health benefits.
The first of the three “health” bars
includes cacao nibs, yacon (a root that contains the complex sugar inulin),
and the Amazon-grown acai berry. The next is formulated with golden berry
and lucama, a fruit with a maple-like flavor noted for high concentrations
of beta-carotene, niacin and iron. The third in the trio of healthfully
positioned bars features goji berries, pecans and maca, a root rich in
calcium, magnesium, phosphorous and iron that is said to enhance
one’s ability to handle stress while boosting energy and endurance.

suggested retail price of $3.99. The bars continue the company tradition of
