Regenie's, purveyor of snacking chips, has announced the award of a U.S. patent for its pioneering process used to create coated pita chips.
This patented methodology, developed by seasoned snack industry innovator and Regenie’s founder Regina Ragonese, aims to unlock a new frontier in snacking. The process allows premium ingredients such as heart-healthy nuts and superfoods to visibly and effectively adhere to pita chips using a proprietary baking technique—reportedly delivering layered flavor, standout texture, and a more visually appealing product.
“This patent is a game-changer,” says Ragonese. “It’s not just about one product—it opens the door to a broad innovation platform in functional snacking. With the right partners, this can scale rapidly into new categories, flavors, and health-forward formats.”
Regenie’s has already launched two products using this method: Pita Brittle and Nuts About Chips. Both have been recognized by Taste TV as top healthy snack picks.
With decades of success launching category-defining products, Ragonese is no stranger to spotting and acting on emerging consumer trends, she says. Her latest innovation aims to provide a springboard for companies seeking to lead in the booming better-for-you snacking space.
Strategic partnership opportunity
Now protected by a U.S. patent, the innovation offers an opportunity for strategic partners eager to tap into the surging demand for functional, better-for-you snacks. Regenie’s is offering exclusive licensing of the patented technology, including full access to the brand, manufacturing expertise, and proprietary process. Partners will also gain the ability to co-develop new product lines featuring superfoods, proteins, and other high-value functional ingredients.
