Ingredients International recently merged with LSI Specialty Products and will operate under the name LSI/Ingredients International.

Ingredients International, a division of Chicago Sweeteners Inc., recently merged its operations with LSI Specialty Products, San Leandro, Calif. The combined companies will operate under the name LSI/Ingredients International.

LSI Specialty Products, founded by Al Saroni, Jr. and Warren Mooney in 1962, produces and distributes corn sweeteners, sugar, molasses and liquid invert sugar in the western United States.

Ingredients International, founded by Bob Akins and Bob Alexander in 1978, is a broad line distributor of food and fine ingredients. The division offers distribution points in Northern and Southern California, Utah, Oregon and Washington.

“Our objective is to bring together the best practices of each group to create a formidable distribution company,” said Ron Friedman, vice president of Chicago Sweeteners Inc., Des Plaines, Ill. “With the merger of these two outstanding ingredient distributors, we will be able to provide manufacturers of food, beverage and nutritional products a stronger line of ingredients, available through 13 regional distribution centers and managed by a larger team of sales and customer service representatives.”

The full product line of each company is available throughout California, Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Texas, Washington and Oregon.
