How good is your distribution center? Here’s a rating system by a Boston-based research firm.

The Top 20% or “best in class” warehouse operations and distribution centers pick 99.5% of their orders accurately, ship 98.8% of their complete orders on time and have 97.2% of inventory accuracy as of last inventory or cycle count, according to a recent report by the Aberdeen Group.

The middle 50% or industry average performers accurately pick 97% of orders, ship complete orders 95.6% of their orders on time and have 95.9% inventory accuracy. The laggards, or bottom 30%, pick only 88.4% of their orders accurately, ship 88.2% of complete orders on time and have 89.1% inventory accuracy.
