Bemis introduced bMET blown, metallized sealant films, which are patent-pending packaging films that replace both the barrier and sealant layers in typical three-ply structures, thus creating two-ply laminations with the performance of three plies. Structures that use bMET films use 20% less material and cost 10% less than the three-ply laminations. They deliver the high-end performance required to protect products such as crackers, cookies and granular products. bMET film thickness can range from 0.75 mil. to 1.5 mil. They are available in metallized white and metallized clear versions. Plus, they can offer customized convenience features like tear initiation and EZ Peel opening.

Ashworth has created a solution for bakers and snack producers to pinpoint undetected high-tension problems and prevent spiral breakdowns. The new Tension Gauge records a belt’s tension throughout each tier in a spiral conveyor. Ashworth service operators can analyze the system and make recommendations to correct any unforeseen or potential problems. Measuring belt tensions of up to 650 lb. in spiral systems, the gauge allows for more than normal operating tensions to account for every possible spiral application.
