Flowers Foods, Thomasville, Ga., recently announced that Flowers Baking Co. of Henderson LLC, Henderson, Nev., will begin production late this year. The bakery was closed in November 2012 when Old HB Inc. (formerly Hostess Brands) began liquidation. Flowers Foods acquired the Henderson bakery and other former Hostess assets in July 2013.

“As we've said since acquiring the Hostess assets this past summer, our plan is to open bakeries as we need additional production capacity to meet market demand,” says Allen L. Shiver, president and CEO of Flowers Foods. “Henderson is strategically located to help us continue to build market presence in this region.”

When in production later this year, the Henderson bakery, which will operate as a subsidiary of Flowers Foods, will employ 60 people. It will produce Nature’s Own for markets in southern Nevada and parts of California.
