Amcor Rigid Plastics, a manufacturer of rigid plastic packaging for numerous industries, including food and beverage, will consolidate its Des Plaines, IL, manufacturing facility into its Itasca, IL, manufacturing facility to better meet changing customer needs. A phased consolidation is planned over the next 12 months to ensure there will be no service disruptions to customers.

Des Plaines employees and equipment will be relocated to nearby Itasca during the consolidation. Itasca employees will not be negatively impacted as a result of the consolidation, according to the company.

“We’ll work closely with our employees and customers to ensure this consolidation is seamless,” says Michael Curia, vice president and general manager of Amcor Rigid Plastics’ North America Diversified Products business unit. “The consolidation of these two operations will allow us to address the changing needs of our customers in the Midwest, provide us with future growth options and improve our level of service to existing customers.”

Amcor Rigid Plastics acquired the Des Plaines facility from Alcan Global Pharmaceutical Packaging in 2010. It currently operates two other manufacturing facilities in the Chicago area—a site in Batavia, IL, and a new on-site operation in the Pullman neighborhood on Chicago’s south side.
