USDA AMS is seeking comment on the proposed final rule related to labeling requirements for GMOs, or bioengineered foods.

The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is proposing a new rule that would require food manufacturers and other providers that label foods for sale to disclose information about BE food and BE food ingredient content. The rule's intention is to have a mandatory national standard for disclosure of information to consumers about foods' BE status. The rule also will announce AMS' intent to gain approval from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) of new information collection and any recordkeeping requirements that are needed to implement the proposed food disclosure standard.

The proposed rule must be received by July 3, 2018.
