The world’s leading trade fair for bakery, confectionery and snacks, iba 2018 will take place in Munich from September 15 through 20. The event will host over 1,300 exhibitors showcasing the latest ingredients, equipment, technology, services and more. It is anticipated that industry professionals from over 165 countries will attend the event, which takes place every three years.

The show, located at the Munich Fairgrounds, will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday through Wednesday, and 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Food safety will form a focus in the new packaging and processing area, iba.OPERATE!, located in hall B1. Learn about current food trends, including free-from products and health foods. The area will also feature the latest production technology, including aspects of automation, digitization and energy efficiency.

The iba.TO GO! area in hall B3 will highlight snacks and the away-from-home market, including a look at current retail trends and technology.

Attendees will have an opportunity to learn some hands-on skills in artisan baking, pastry and decorating at the iba.ACADEMY, where baking instructors will provide instruction on baking German cheesecake and pretzels.

Brief seminars on Bavarian baking culture will also be offered, demonstrating current Bavarian baking technology and demonstrations on how different Bavarian baked goods are made.

The iba.UIBC.CUP will host some of the best bakers and confectioners in the world, with bakery teams from China, Norway, Germany, France, Japan, Peru, the Netherlands, Korea, Russia, Spain, England and the U.S. competing. Also, top German bakers will compete in the “4th German Championship of Master Bakers” centering on this year’s theme of “Europe.”

The new iba.SPEAKERS CORNER in Hall A1.170 will celebrate its premiere at iba 2018, highlighting a new topic of discussion every day, including:

  • Success stories of bakeries

At iba, attendees will have an opportunity to conduct virtual tours of bakeries via a multimedia experience in Hall B3. With the help of virtual reality glasses and 360-degree videos, visitors will be able to see renowned master bakeries from Germany, Greece, Iceland, Austria and the U.S.

Visitors can relax and meet with friends and colleagues old and new in the iba.OKTOBERFEST TENT next to Hall B6, which opens at 5.30 pm. The tent will feature music and Bavarian specialties.
