In honor of Veterans Day, Schwan’s Home Delivery, the iconic frozen food-delivery company, today announced that the company has joined the U.S. Army Partnership for Youth Success program. The partnership was commemorated with a virtual ceremony, where company president Joe Kirby—a veteran of the U.S. Army—relayed the importance of hiring veterans and the strong values and skills they will bring to the company.

“At Schwan’s Home Delivery, we are grateful to our servicemembers for their courage and the sacrifices they make every day defending our nation,” Joe Kirby, president of Schwan’s Home Delivery said. “I know firsthand the important mindset and skills people gain in the military, and when it comes to transferring those skills into other roles, I see many opportunities in our business. We are proud to join this partnership with the U.S. Army and want to extend our gratitude to every veteran who has served our country.”

The U.S. Army Partnership for Youth Success is designed to help Soldiers prepare for a career after the Army by connecting them with employers who understand the skill, discipline, and work ethic that military service members bring to a business. This program is part of a long-term U.S. Army effort to help Soldiers forge professional relationships with businesses and encourage business owners to look to the Army as a plentiful and reliable recruiting source.

Schwan’s Home Delivery employs about 400 veterans nationwide across the company’s different divisions, comprising more than 9 percent of total employment.
