The National Confectioners Association has launched Sweets & Snacks On Demand after canceling the 2020 in-person event as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Though the global COVID-19 pandemic prompted the National Confectioners Association to cancel the 2020 Sweets & Snacks Expo, the staff of Candy Industry still wanted to give confectionery manufacturers a chance to show off the innovations they have planned for 2020 and beyond.
Event planning experts offer insight into the potential dominio effects of all the conferences being canceled, and how organizations can best manage the impact.
The big questions on everyone’s mind are "When will things go back to normal? When will we be walking the show floors again? How much longer will this all last?"
NCA President and CEO John Downs sent out a letter explaining the decision, citing restrictions on mass gatherings that have been in place in Chicago and Illinois, as well as guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The Sweets and Snacks Expo is still proceeding as planned. However, the NCA is now offering a full refund on badge fees for anyone whose plans change as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.
