Your Confections are worthy of Exceptional Packaging

Tap prides itself on innovative packaging designed to increase its customers’ brand awareness and profitability

The Chilcote Co., parent company of Tap Packaging Solutions, established in 1906, is a manufacturer of photo and confectionery packaging,
custom book covers and specialty packaging products. As an ESOP, or employee-owned company, since 1984, Tap Packaging Solutions is committed to progress and quality in manufacturing, and also committed to its customers, distributors, suppliers, community and employee owners.  Tap subscribes to Lean Manufacturing principles and sustainability.

David Chilcote, third-generation family member and current company chairman, tells us, “Tap Packaging Solutions operates a 80,000-sq.-ft. manufacturing facility in Cleveland, Ohio and we are proud to support the growth of domestic manufacturing in our region.”

Although new to the stock candy box market, the employee owners at Tap Packaging Solutions have been manufacturing custom confectionery packaging for many years and were instrumental in strengthening the Betsy Ann brand. Jim Paras, President of Betsy Ann Chocolates in Buffalo, N.Y. credits Tap with creating a uniquely embossed box that has become the signature piece in the Betsy Ann line.

Tap prides itself on creating and manufacturing innovative packaging designed to increase its customers profits. Tap engages its customers and prospects in market study and analysis in an effort to provide creative solutions for any packaging and display requirements.

The latest additions to the Tap confection line, the Wine Hanger and Cello Caddies, address very different, but important packaging niches. Sarina Elliot of Chocolate Affairs in Washington was looking to increase profits by taking advantage of the latest research supporting the health benefits of dark chocolate and red wine.

“I happened upon the Wine Hanger from Tap at the RCI convention last summer and immediately knew this was the packaging innovation that would
allow me to partner with a local winery to grow my business.

“I worked with Brian Hrdlicka, director of corporate marketing, who helped me customize Tap’s stock Wine Hanger to further promote my brand. The finished product was amazing and my wine truffle business has really taken off. ”

 In talking with customers at trade events, the marketing department at Tap also recognized a common frustration involving bagged candies that wouldn’t stay standing on store shelves. 

“We feel that our newest addition, the Cello Caddy is the answer,” says Hrdlicka. “These-easy-to-use auto bottom boxes come in a variety of designs and sizes to optimize your seasonal shelf and table displays.”
