Porta, the premium frozen pizza brand known for its Roman-style pizzas, will be available in the frozen aisle at all locations of The Fresh Market, tentatively starting in August. The chain will carry two varieties: Sausage & Caramelized Onion Pizza and Mushroom & Fontina Pizza.
Each pizza is handmade by chefs who flash freeze Italian ingredients to lock in rich flavors and freshness, which makes it easy to store and quick to prepare, Porta notes, cooking in just 15 minutes or less.
Founded by Italian chef and restaurateur Cosimo Mammoliti, Porta's hand-stretched dough contains 80% water and doesn't require extreme heat, resulting in a product that's reportedly light and airy with a crispy finish when baked in a traditional oven. The pizzas feature premium tomatoes from Campania, Italy; flour from a fourth-generation family-run mill in Le Marche, Italy; and 100% Coratina extra-virgin olive oil from a close family friend in Puglia, Italy made exclusively for the company. The meats, cheeses, and seasonings are selected from various regions of Italy.
