Fun Friday: Happy April Fool's from Ferrero, JusRol, Halls, Takis, Deep Indian Kitchen, and more
Snack brand Garrett's teases a sweet-smelling deodorant based on its popcorn.

By the time you are reading this week's Fun Friday article, it's April 3 or later, so we can all collectively exhale—we no longer have to doubt everything we read on the internet. I'll admit I got swindled a few times on April 1, too, but mostly by things that sounded real—for example, a TV star I liked posted that she'd be hosting a new Netflix show, and I got excited until I realized ... it's April 1, believe nothing and trust no one (oops).
Snack and bakery brands definitely had fun with the holiday—we hope you enjoy our roundup of the pranks and tomfoolery below.
In the words of The Who—"we don't get fooled again" (until next year, anyways).
Ferrero goes all out for April Fool's

Ferrero cautions that the following new products and flavors are not real ... for now, at least ("never say never," the company teases). For the holiday, the confectionery "released" a Butterfinger-flavored Top Ramen; Mother's Cookies "Ultimate Dad Mode" cookies, with vanilla shortbread that celebrated everything that makes dad legendary; Keebler Hollow Tree Toothpaste, in flavors like Fudge Fresh, Elf Enamel, Cookiepaste, Shrotbread Shine, and Brownie Brush; Buncha Crunch Concession Dispenser Experience, which consumers actually really liked so now the company is considering making it (they're asking consumers to chime in on social media); and a Cup Noodles Heatless Curls Kit, an overnight curl kit featuring flexible rods (the noodles) and a lightweight Broth Boost setting spray to lock them in place—no hot water needed.
Nutter Butter drops a "nutty" hit single

In one of the weirder April Fool's jokes, Mondelēz International brand Nutter Butter announced the release of a song on its Instagram and TikTok pages, with a cryptic IG caption: "//therelease//April," and some music (on TT). According to the brand, its "viral fame has produced an absurd world that feels like a bizarre fever dream, building a community of fans all in for the cryptic, silly, and downright weird world. So it just makes sense the single will be just as nutty as Nutter Butter’s personality. All instrumentation will incorporate 'RockJam' electric piano that enables piano tone changes, and percussive elements derived from household objects (e.g., pots, pans, and other found materials)."
Garrett's, Insomnia Cookies social posts

Both Garrett's Popcorn Shops and Insomnia Cookies posted fun Facebook posts advertising products that don't exist. For Garrett's, it was a CaramelCrisp-scented deodorant: "You asked, we answered. CaramelCrisp deodorant is here ... Kidding, we’ll stick to popcorn. Happy April Fools Day," the brand joked, with some of the commenters saying they would actually order that (best comment: "It gives a whole new meaning to sticky pits"). Insomnia posted Cookie Cupcakes with icing (which, honestly, sound delicious, and I'd definitely try if they actually made these). The company's Facebook fans were quick to compare the new "product" to Crumbl, with one commenter joking "Taking a shot at Crumbl, huh?" and another saying "Don't Crumbl your cookies."
Halls introduces Grandma's Purse flavor

Halls Cough Drops unveiled a cheeky, joke flavor concept on its social media called Grandma’s Purse. "With a true vintage taste, aged to perfection, the flavor tastes of lavender and lint," it says, adding: "At Halls, we know that Grandma is always the trusted keeper of Halls cough drops and is the one we can count on to have one stuffed in her purse. So, this April Fool's Day, we’re leaning into Halls history and silly side all at once." On its Instagram post, other brands were quick to chime in, with baby monitor @owletcare saying "Why is this oddly comforting" and cranberry producer @oceansprayinc commenting "Oh this is it fam. Is there is a used tissue in there that I could use?"
Deep Indian Kitchen offers Coconut Curry Protein Shake
Courtesy of Deep Indian Kitchen How much protein is TOO much? Frozen meal-maker Deep Indian Kitchen had a little fun with the high protein craze this April Fool's by "debuting" its Coconut Curry Protein Shake, "a sippable spin on a classic Deep Indian Kitchen favorite, blending creamy coconut, bold Indian spices, and 24 g of protein per serving." The brand notes that consumers won't actually find the product in stores, but it's a playful nod to how far the protein in everything trend has gone, and how convenience culture continues pushing the limits further.
Takis "launches" crunchified ASMR studying sound
Courtesy of TakisEver needed a little crunch or some extra spice to power through a study session? Introducing Quizlet x Takis Lo-Fi Study Eats: 10 hours of crunchy, looping ASMR audio that is now 12,000% scientifically proven* to unlock your best study success on Quizlet (*by “scientifically proven,” the brand means “endorsed by the Crunch Science Institute,” a very real organization we definitely didn’t invent," it jokes). Study Eats is an ASMR study playlist engineered using the brand's proprietary Crunch Induced Cognitive Activation (CICA) method—a breakthrough theory claiming that crunchy sounds = smarter brains. "Research shows students who study with Takis Crunch ASMR retain 400% more information and are 10 times more likely to ace their next exam. While these results are statistically questionable, the vibes were immaculate," the brand says.
Jus-Rol "debuts" DePuff sheet mask
Courtesy of Jus-RolIt’s the latest skincare fixture coming straight from the dough aisle—ready-to-bake refrigerated dough brand Jus-Rol "introduced" the DePuff sheet mask on its Instagram page. The post said: "Inspired by our famous puff pastry, this mask is designed to de-puff while you puff. Coincidence? We think not. Coming to the skincare aisle near you soon…" The mask promised a 300% increase in buttery smooth skin, the company says—with nine out of 10 experiencing the sudden urge to host brunch. Because why reduce puffiness when you can also increase puff pastry cravings?
The internet is mad at Pillsbury and Totino's because ...

...this product sounds delicious, but isn't real. Pillsbury and Totino's posted it on their Instagram accounts for April Fool's Day, and the comments section went berserk. Best comments were from @totinos ("we look so good here"), @instagramforbusiness ("do not play with us like this"), @walmart ("you have my attention"), @listerine ("we'll be on standby), @ringpopofficial ("Need these in BULK!!!"), @misfitsmarket ("Okay but how do we get these made for real"), @killerbrownie ("plz make this") and at @poptartsus ("don't play with me rn"). There were also some comments that just made sense, like @reesespuffs saying "can we put this in a bowl of milk" and Pillsbury responding "wellll yesssss" with a heart emoji. Consumers like influencer @theshayspence even tried making their own version of it, which you can see here.
