Eriez expands PrecisionGuard X8 inspection platform
The equipment is reportedly able to incorporate simultaneous frequency capabilities.

Eriez X8-SF Simultaneous Frequency Metal Detector
Separation technologies company Eriez has introduced its X8-SF Simultaneous Frequency Metal Detector, expanding the company’s PrecisionGuard X8 inspection platform with technology engineered to improve detection performance and reduce false rejects in demanding food processing applications, the company says.
The X8-SF incorporates simultaneous frequency capabilities, transmitting and receiving multiple frequencies at once to adapt to variations in product characteristics. This approach helps overcome inconsistencies in conductivity and composition, often referred to as "product effect," which can limit the effectiveness of conventional metal detectors.
By using a broader frequency spectrum, the X8-SF aims to deliver more stable inspection performance across a wide range of food products. The result is improved sensitivity to metal contaminants while reducing unnecessary product waste caused by false rejects.
“Product effect has long challenged processors trying to balance sensitivity with stability,” says Emmett Keim, global product manager – inspection systems at Eriez. “The X8-SF changes that equation by maintaining consistent detection performance, even when product composition or temperature varies.”
Like all models in the X8 line, the X8-SF features a hygienic design, an intuitive touchscreen interface and integrated data capture to support traceability and compliance. Each system also includes Eriez’ Quality Retail Compliance Kit (QRC) as standard, providing automated performance verification, audit-ready reportingm and documented inspection records to help processors meet strict retail and regulatory requirements.
