The winners of the 40th sofiAwards for outstanding specialty foods and beverages of the year were announced June 18 at the Summer Fancy Food Show in Washington, D.C.
The awards, from the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade (NASFT), were presented by Chef José Andrés, a noted chef and culinary innovator, at a red-carpet ceremony at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. A sofi Award is considered the top honor in the $75 billion specialty food industry. Its name stands for “specialty outstanding food innovation.”

Baked Good, Baking Ingredient or Cereal: Stonewall Kitchen for Cinnamon Sugar Doughnut Mix
Cookie: Lark Fine Foods for Lady Birds and Natural Nectar for Sea Salt Caramel Crispy Crepes (tie)
Cracker: Lark Fine Foods for Scourtins and Polka Dot Bake Shop for Sweet Potato Crackers, Cracked Black Pepper (tie)
Diet and Lifestyle Product: WOW Baking Co. for Lemon Burst Cookies, Wheat & Gluten Free
Snack Food: New England Herbal Foods for Danielle Roasted Coconut Chips
The sofi Awards are open to members of NASFT, a not-for-profit trade association for food artisans, importers and entrepreneurs. This year’s contest drew a record 2,520 entries across all 32 awards, including 374 for Outstanding New Product.
