Bakeries celebrate National Honey Month
The National Honey Board is celebrating National Honey Month in September with the help of some of the best bakeries in the United States. National Honey Month is an annual celebration of honey, honey bees and this amazing all-natural sweetener.
This year, the National Honey Board is working with four bakeries to promote honey and the importance of honey bees to our ecosystem. Each participating bakery will be featuring special made with honey products in September, as well as set up a sticky station in their bakery, giving customers the ability to top their bakery foods or beverages with three varietals of honey, each with a unique flavor and color.
Participating bakeries include:
• Born & Bread Bakehouse, Lakeland, Florida
• Gracious Bakery, New Orleans, Louisiana
• Floriole Café and Bakery, Chicago, Illinois
• Publican Quality Breads and Publican restaurant, Chicago, Illinois
• Hoosier Mama Pies, Evanston, Illinois
In addition to featuring made with honey bakery foods in September, Floriole Bakery & Café, Publican Quality Breads and Hoosier Mama Pies are teaming up with local restaurants Honey Butter Fried Chicken and Bad Hunter to host an event at Floriole Café and Bakery on September 27, 2017. The event will include product tastings, an educational presentation on honey and honey bees, and tastings of varietal honeys from around the United States.
“We’re thrilled that these great bakeries and restaurants are recognizing the importance of honey and honey bees to creating some exceptional artisan breads and pastries,” says Catherine Barry, National Honey Board’s director of marketing. “What these bakeries create with honey is inspirational, and we’re excited their customers will get to taste these made with honey products and learn more about the importance of honey bees.”
