Dr. John Cavallo, senior vice president, technology & commercial development, Citromax, announced that Kurt Nordman has joined the company as Senior Citrus Flavorist, effective January 2, 2019.

In his new role with the company, Kurt will be responsible for developing new citrus flavors and citrus oil blends and will be working both domestically and internationally to expand sales to new and existing customers. Kurt will also be working with the company’s citrus team to develop differentiating products utilizing the by-products of lemon processed in the Citromax Argentina Tucuman facility and other citrus fruit ingredients.

Dr. Cavallo explained, “Kurt has an in-depth understanding of citrus oils and ingredients, as well as other key essential oils used in all aspects of flavor development.  He has spent 15 years of his career focused on creating consumer-preferred citrus flavors. This expertise will be used in support of our current citrus oil business in the US, Argentina and Asia.”

Kurt comes to Citromax from Symrise, where he worked as a flavorist in the Oral Care Lab developing new and improved flavors for the major global oral care companies. Prior to that, he spent several years at IFF as a lab manager and was the key interface between IFF’s R&D team and their citrus development group. Kurt started his flavor career at Dragoco as a flavorr chemical assistant, then moved on to Symrise, where he was a flavor trainee, a junior flavorist and finally a flavorist/citrus lab manager.

A graduate of Kean University, Kurt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry – ACS Certified Option. He is a member of the Society of Flavor Chemists and the American Chemical Society.
