Keebler gets into eerie season with Fudge Stripes launch
Its LTO Spookie Fudge Stripes celebrate Halloween with seasonal colors and shapes.

Seasonal snacks and bakery treats are part of many celebrations throughout the calendar. Halloween has scores of brands getting into the game, with specially shaped candies for trick-or-treaters, snacks in festive packaging to share at parties, and more. Ferrero and its portfolio of brands have ramped it up this year, with items like its annual Halloween countdown calendar and its Spookie Fudge Stripe cookies. To learn more about the cookies, seasonal innovations, and other playful turns, we connected with Kelly Flaherty, brand marketing, Keebler Fudge Stripes.
Jenni Spinner: Could you please share a bit about Keebler’s history of innovation around seasonal products, particularly Halloween?
Kelly Flaherty: Keebler has a rich tradition of infusing magic into seasonal celebrations through our cookies. We've long delighted fans by reimagining classics and partnering with beloved entertainment properties to create innovative, limited-edition treats that make seasonal moments even more memorable.
Our seasonal innovations go far beyond packaging—we craft new flavors and formats that genuinely reflect the spirit of the season. A recent example is our limited-edition Spookie Fudge Stripes cookies, featuring chocolatey vanilla-flavored cookies with orange stripes and playful Halloween-themed designs, like pumpkin-shaped centers.
Last year, our limited-edition Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Fudge Stripes cookies were another standout, cleverly merging the nostalgic excitement of the film's sequel with the playful energy of Halloween. These products are all about helping families make magical memories together.
JS: Tell us about this new product, Spookie Fudge Stripes—tell us about the flavors, look, and packaging of this festive treat.
KF: Our limited-edition Spookie Fudge Stripes cookies bring a frightening fun twist to the beloved Fudge Stripes family. These special Halloween treats feature rich chocolatey vanilla-flavored cookies adorned with vibrant orange fudge stripes that perfectly capture the essence of the season. Each cookie showcases playful Halloween-themed designs that celebrate all the fun and excitement of this magical time of year.
The eye-catching packaging embraces the Halloween spirit with festive seasonal elements that make these cookies impossible to miss on store shelves. The design adds an extra layer of excitement that builds anticipation from the moment families spot them in the cookie aisle.
Whether you're hosting a Halloween party, packing lunch boxes, or building viral “Boo Baskets”, Spookie Fudge Stripes deliver the perfect combination of the familiar, beloved taste fans crave and the seasonal magic that makes Halloween truly memorable for the whole family.
JS: The brand amped up the fun with a neat scavenger hunt—could you please tell us a bit about that, and your partnerships with the zoos involved?
KF: To celebrate this launch, we teamed up with Allionce Group, an organization that not only shares our passion for stripes but is also already a go-to destination for Halloween family fun from annual Spooktacular Events to Spooky Safaris. Together, we created the ‘Find the Stripes Scavenger Hunt’ to help foster memorable family experiences and celebrate all sorts of stripes this season.
The interactive adventure takes place at four participating zoos nationwide, where families can enjoy the zoos’ frights and sights, including learning about the magic behind animals’ stripes. It's a wonderful way for us to connect with families across the country through hands-on, educational fun. Each participating zoo offers a unique scavenger hunt experience carefully tailored to showcase their creepy cool striped animals. Visitors may even spot Ernie the Keebler Elf or snag Fudge Stripes samples, while supplies last.
For those unable to attend in person, the fun continues at home on our Open for Magic digital platform, featuring a virtual zoo experience and a chance to win a grand prize: a family zoo membership and an exclusive behind-the-scenes animal encounter.
JS: Keebler and other Ferrero brands have a history of engaging consumers with interactive events like this (I had a ball at the Mother’s Frostology Lab, for example). Can you share why your brand team puts the time, effort, and thought into such events—what do you feel the brand gets out of it, and what does it do for consumers?
Photo: Jenni SpinnerWhen consumers engage with our experiences—whether through our scavenger hunt, recent Hollow Tree pop-ups for our E.L. Fudge launch, or activities on our Open for Magic platform at home—they begin associating Keebler with quality family time, discovery, and pure joy. These meaningful interactions help us build emotional bonds that transform occasional purchasers into devoted fans who choose our products because of the positive memories we've helped create together.
We aspire to be part of the moments that matter most to families – the weekend adventures, seasonal celebrations, and precious times when everyone comes together. That's where the real magic happens.
JS: What’s next for Keebler? I’d love to hear what Ernie and his other wee bakers in the Hollow Tree have in store for cookie consumers.
KF: Ernie and the Elves have been working around the clock in the Hollow Tree! While we can't reveal their secrets just yet, we can confirm that there’s lots of delicious elfin magic brewing in the Hollow Tree. In fact, make sure to keep your eyes peeled for another very exciting, limited-edition flavor arriving just in time for the holidays.
JS: Do you happen to have a favorite Keebler or Ferrero product?
KF: Of course, my favorite Keebler product is the iconic Fudge Stripes, but our new E.L. Fudge Choco Vanilla Cookies are a close second! As far as Ferrero favorites, that’s tough! But I’ll have to say Nutella in any and all of its forms.
