Radio Frequency’s Macrowave Post-Baking Dryers use radio frequency energy, which preferentially heats and dries the moist areas of cookies, crackers and snack foods to eliminate surface checking and control moisture and color. Developed for high-volume cookie production, these dryers quickly remove residual moisture trapped within the center of the product, permitting conventional ovens to run at the maximum speed with the correct loft, crumb structure and color. Additionally, they are capable of increasing productivity by more than 30%.

When the PowerPhasePRO by Mettler-Toledo Safeline is combined with material handling systems or conveyors, product inspection becomes fully automated so that resources can be allocated elsewhere, thus maximizing profits. Custom designs also can be configured to exact plant conditions and requirements, allowing easy integration into all process lines. The sophisticated PowerPhase electronics software delivers unrivalled levels of detection sensitivity, enabling the discovery of even difficult-to-find, non-magnetic stainless steels.
Schenck Process’ MaxiStore Material Distribution Bridge provides the efficient filling of dry bulk solid materials in storage buildings. The system operates by using a traveling and reversible shuttle conveyor mounted along the sidewall of the storage area. Material is fed from outside the building on to an en-masse conveyor located within the bridge structure, and the shuttle belts allow the bridge to traverse on rails throughout the entire building. Afterwards, it is discharged via a series of gates located throughout the length of the en-masse conveyor filling the building from floor to roof while maximizing space and providing better and safer material distribution. The MaxiStore can handle bulk materials at rates in excess of 1,000 tons per hour.
Built for 24/7 operations, MARQ Packaging’s HPE-NS-Lidder features polycarbonate guarding and a sleek powder-coated finish. It’s adaptable with increasingly popular display shippers used with or without center dividers and is a likely replacement for bliss formers or trayformers with lidders. Additionally, a selector switch allows the machine to run RSC or HSC cases.

Videojet’s 1610 Ink Jet Printer provides high-speed continuous coding for heavy-duty applications. The printer can print up to five lines of high-resolution print at speeds up to 960 ft. per minute and includes IP65 washdown and dust protection, which provides an environmental shield with no plant air required. Additionally, the vapor recovery system reduces solvent consumption and allows for longer runs before fluid change. The Smart Cartridge fluid system is designed to drain completely, wasting no residual fluids thus saving time and money. The needle-and-septum design also eliminates the need for operators to pour ink, preventing fluid spillage and waste. Plus, the Videojet 1610 is easier to integrate into existing systems with advanced connectivity technology, including its USB port, which allows for hot swapping print jobs and backing up messages.

Designed for bakeries of all sizes, the Hinds-Bock Table Top Cake Slicer has a small footprint and can slice everything from cake rounds to half-sheet cakes. This easy-to-use slicer contains tight safety features, which reduces injuries. In addition, the uniform slicing limits the amount of icing spread on each cake and it can produce better yields when slicing semi-frozen cakes.
DFE Meincke introduces the Turbu Three heat recovery oven, which is designed to save 10-15% on zones with a large air exchange. The system can be installed in any zone with a temperature of at least 150°C and a 50% open-rate of fresh air intake. DFE Meincke offers a free calculation of its customers’ savings. Some of the figures can be evaluated based on product type, heat exchanger type and damper adjustment, as well as quantity, baking temperature and height beyond sea level.
Intralox offers a lineup of conveying solutions. For instance, the ThermoDrive belting is an ultra-hygienic conveying solution that dramatically improves food safety. The continuous, easy-to-clean belting surface facilitates sanitation and has been shown to improve product yields. The Series 2800 Spiralox Gtech is a green spiral belt that delivers the proven benefits of Intralox modular plastic belting on spirals, combined with the additional benefits of increased beam strength, better airflow and tighter transfer capability. Additionally, the I-Drive, Intralox’s new intermediate drive conveyor technology, simplifies lines, reduces maintenance and increases belt life, enabling Intralox modular plastic belts to run long distances without transfers. And the Activated Roller Belt technology is a conveyance platform that enables automation in plants where it was previously cost-prohibitive or overly complex.
Grote has expanded the versatility of its electric Peppamatic, which can now slice complete pepperoni patterns onto crusts of up to 18 in. in diameter in a single application. The Peppamatic features an all-electric, state-of-the-art design with servo tube linear technology. The design includes open framing and stainless steel construction for greatly enhanced cleaning and sanitation.

Bemis introduced bMET blown, metallized sealant films, which are patent-pending packaging films that replace both the barrier and sealant layers in typical three-ply structures, thus creating two-ply laminations with the performance of three plies. Structures that include bMET films use 20% less material and cost 10% less than the three-ply laminations. Bemis delivers the high-end performance required to protect crackers, cookies and granular products. bMET film thickness can range from 0.75 mil to 1.5 mil. They are available in metallized white and metallized clear versions. Plus, they can offer customized convenience features like tear initiation and EZ Peel opening.

Don’t just seal - superseal with OK International’s T-PAKTM 550 Supersealer. Equipped with a flat conveyor and a foam compression belt, the filled bag comes down the conveyor and comes under the foam compression belt, which takes the air out of the bag without harming the product. The package then enters the OK Supersealer to get the “perfect seal.” Furthermore, the Supersealer removes excess air from the bags, is custom built to meet various application requirements and is available in stainless steel or painted models. Designed to mix viscous materials requiring a combination of high and low shear mixing and dispersion, the patented Ross PowerMix by Charles Ross and Son includes two separate agitation systems within one system. A planetary blade revolves in combination with a separate high-speed dispersion blade. Both revolve on their own axis as well as on a common axis, and the speed of each can be varied independent of the other. This combination allows a user to fine tune the mixer to meet the facility’s specific process needs and the shear rates that are required to optimize this process.

Ashworth Bros. introduced Omni-Pro 075 to withstand 150 lb. of tension for 100,000 cycles, a rating that only heavy-duty belts could deliver - until now. The belt’s design minimizes cage bar wear, maintenance costs and downtime in the most demanding high-tension spiral applications. The shorter pitch of the Omni-Pro 075 is designed for small products and closer transfers. Unlike a traditional bridge weld, the 360-degree buttonless weld is free from surface imperfections and crevices, which eliminates bacteria entrapments and improves hygienic characteristics.

WeighPack Systems developed Controlled Atmosphere Packaging (CAP), which involves the removal of air from within a stand-up bag for extended freshness. Once the bag has been filled with product, the system replaces the air within the package with an inert air that suspends product deterioration in a safe and natural way before sealing the bag. CAP delivers a significant reduction in product returns from the retailer due to customer dissatisfaction.
