Company: Solvay Aroma Performance, Lyon, France

Ingredient Snapshot: Solvay Aroma Performance introduced two new natural vanilla flavor brands at Food Ingredients Europe (FIE) 2015: Vanifolia and Vanifolia Bean. Vanifolia is a range of global natural flavors that meets the highest food-safety standards and is fully compliant with both U.S. and European flavor regulations, according to the company, enabling customers to designate Vanifolia as a “natural flavor” on food packaging labels. The flavors can be used by key food segments, including bakery, chocolate and confectionery, to mask off-notes in products, while balancing or boosting their overall taste. In bakery premix formulations, they help reduce sugar, while ensuring a lasting sweet taste with a unique vanilla note. Vanifolia Bean combines all the qualities of Vanifolia, but with the added benefit of a natural flavor based on genuine vanilla orchid bean extract. In Europe, this product range allows “natural vanilla flavor” labeling.
